Adonara

Adonara is an island in the Lesser Sunda Islands of Indonesia, located east of the larger island of Flores. It is in the Nusa Tenggara Timur province.

History

Local history on Adonara traces its roots to a state that was founded about 1650 on the island. Some postindependence local officials trace their roots to past rulers, called raja, of Adonara, who include:

  • Gela (pretender during the rule of his father Bapa Tuan)
  • Bapa Ama (Regent with the title of Kapitan 1930-1/12/1935, condemned to live imprisonment before 24 April 1936 and sent to Kupang. Son of a sister of Kamba Begu)
  • Raja Nuhung Bapa, °1915, +after 1950. Son of Gela
  • Bapa Nuhur, Regent 1936/41-1940s during the minorship of Raja Nuhung Bapa
  • Raja Bapa Gela, °1905, +..... Son of:
  • Bapa Kaya, Regent 1940s-12/1/1954 during the minorship of Raja Bapa Gela
