"Mawtini" (My Homeland) is the national anthem of Iraq.The anthem was adopted in 2004, written by Ibrahim Touqan with music by Walid Georges Gholmieh. After the ousting of the Saddam Hussein government, Iraq selected a new national anthem. "Mawtini", also a popular folk tune throughout the Arab world (and an unofficial anthem of Palestine), was composed by the same composer of the previous anthem, yet was written earlier, and the author of the lyrics also wrote those of the official Palestinian anthem.
