Back Of The Y Masterpiece Television

Back Of The Y Masterpiece Television was a TV series produced in New Zealand. Featuring such memorable characters as Spanners Watson, Danny Parker, Cindy Cockburn and Randy Campbell, the show glorified stupid stunts and the consumption of copious amounts of alcohol. The Hollywood special episode featured Randy Campbell jumping off the back of the Y in the famous Hollywood sign.

The show consisted of 7 episodes of Back Of The Y Masterpiece Television and The Back Of The Y Goes To Hollywood Special.

In addition to being screened upon New Zealand television, the show has been given airtime on MTV2 in the UK.

Back Of The Y has also spawned a band featured on the series named "Deja Voodoo".

Back of the Y are currently working on Bogans Hero's Which is set to save New Zealand television.

History

As The story goes, In 1976 Philip Bruff had a dream, his dream was to create a TV show that wasn't complete shit, he failed miserably.

Back Of the Y actually started on their road to fame soon after moving to Auckland from the South Island, Down there they were Students who took interest in the local film making competition where the winners of each section would win 12 beers and some cash. So cunningly they tried to win in as much sections as they possibly can (except maybe drama considering they hate drama) Their plan worked and they won awards, lots of awards, more awards anyone else has won, and more than anyone else will ever again.

After reaching Auckland they soon made their way onto a local television station "Triangle Tv" and back of the y series one was aired. It caught the attention of television superstar Graeme Hill who got back of the y a 5 minute slot every week on a late night Christian music show "Ground Zero" Each week Randy Cambell did a new stunt, such as being dragged down to the dairy and back, jumping off Back of the Y studios, being run over by a car and rolling down Auckland's steepest street on a skateboard. They were soon loved by everyone who watched the show and soon Chris was screaming the intro to Ground Zero. Other Back of the Y stuff was also played such as the all original Smoodiver and The Ginge. Lynx Zero sponsored them to do a little arts reporting segment.

New Zealands Greatest Stuntman Randy Cambell soon got fed up with his career and Stunt Crew and left doing stunts after a dismal attempt to jump loose canyon on a BMX. The Ramp was built around the wrong way and Randy paid the price. But that wasn't the end of weekly stunts, his successor, his son Ricky Cambell was more then keen to fill his Father's shoes and with the help from personal savior Jesus Christ. Ricky Cambell successfully jumped loose canyon on a bmx. Also he stood on a Ladder while a Car went through under him. He completed the stunt with some poncey pose after he did the stunt successfully. This infuriated Veteran Austrialasian stunt coodordinator Dick Johansonson. Because Ricky successes were making Back of the Y loose ratings. Dick Johansonson came up with a new stunt for Ricky cambell, one that he would never pull off. and that was to jump off a tower on mount Eden Auckland. Live on air Ricky cambell climbed the Tower and jumped to his Death. This shocked the Nation. and Back of the Y's ratings skyrocketed.

Deja Voodoo a band started by Matt, chris and Phil made their debut live on air, they played a short 45 second version of Jack The Ripper. They sucked. But their inspirations were obvious. Fortunatly or unfortunately (as we have yet to find out), that was not the last we heard of Deja Voodoo.

After Ground Zero there was a new music show called Space. It was 100% more boring than Ground Zero. The only that they really had going for it was Matt, chris and phils little art section called "Arts Whole" Where every week they would report on some new art and let everyone know how crap they think it is. Nothing on the back of the y front yet, But near the end of the year a trailor was shown for Back of the Y Masterpiece Television.

In 2001 Back of the y Masterpiece Television exploded onto TV2, making New Zealand Television history as they went. The show was full on. Randy cambell was back, Smoodiver was back, The Ginge was back, the wank jokes were back, Deja Voodoo provided the soundtrack and the person throwing the punches was none other then new zealands most loved (and most controversial) Televison presenter Mr Danny Parker. But unfortunately he was killed by a drunken Randy Campbell on September 11th 2001. Ending Back of the Y for what should be for good. A behind the scenes special came on the following week, with who everybody thought would be Danny Parkers successor Piers Graham. But he was just giving final thoughts.

Later on in the same year, A Back of the Y goes to Hollywood special was made. This special seems to be something that was happening during Back of the Y was being made, after Bogans Heros. (as Danny Parker is supposingly dead and Randy Campbell in jail) The Hollywood special went for a hour long and satisfyed every ones Back of the Y addictions until the video was released and everyone was able to watch their most favorite back of the y episodes over and over again (except for the hollywood special)

In 2003 Back of the y gets sold to mtv2 in the UK, a stunt night was made, A animation was made out of Chris Stapps "that cunt rabbit" as it was too cold to do much else in london, more arts wholes and all the back of the y episodes were aired in the UK. The boty boys were there for a while but not for long.

As 2004 rolled around, Deja voodoo make their debut with the infamous Beer drinking concept album 'brown Sabbath' every song that appears on the album is a rock anthem of epic proportions and the most sceptical critics were shut up as this album was the best album to be released in New Zealand for a very long time. Back of the y also gets aired on Australian channel V, Deja voodoo tour for abit, and announce that they are making a new show called Bogans Heros.
