Bikini Bottom

Bikini Bottom is a fictitious city under the sea in the Nickelodeon television cartoon series SpongeBob SquarePants. This is where SpongeBob and his friends live. It was founded in 1330 by Fishito Fisshoi. It has a "lake" called Goo Lagoon. It's size is unknown, while som believe 10 million, most estimate it to be a smaller, more suburban type city with just a little over 100,000, some suspect even smaller, around 50 or 60 thousand. The creator of the show, Stephen Hillenburg, confirmed that Bikini Bottom is a small city, which means it probably has at most 120,000 people to as little as 45,000.

SpongeBob lives here in a pineapple house with his pet snail Gary. His friends include Patrick Star and Sandy Cheeks. SpongeBob works in The Krusty Krab with Squidward Tentacles and Eugene H. Krabs. Sheldon Plankton works in The Chum Bucket which nobody ever goes to. Bubble Bass is a creep found near Goo Lagoon. Larry T. Lobster is a lifeguard who lives and works at Goo Lagoon. There are a few varieties of jellyfish in and around the city.

It is believed to be part of the United States, mainly because the creator Stephen Hillenburg used to work at a U.S owned nuclear base near the ocean, he always wanted to know what was at the bottom of it, and he based this city on that spectrum. Plus, the city is Americanized, the citzens use dollars as their currency, their de facto language is English, and they have Westernized customs.
