Category talk:Popes
From Academic Kids
I don't like the sorting of the popes by article name (virtually sorting them all under P, but Saint Peter), so I tried to use the alternative sorting method described in m:MediaWiki User's Guide: Using Categories to sort the first dozen or so historically. If anyone appreciates the idea, we can continue doing so, but I am not going to change this with a twohundredandwhat popes before there is some consent... ;) --denny vrandečić 21:13, May 30, 2004 (UTC)
- Since List of popes has them numerically, perhaps it's ok for this page to show them alphabetically. It gives people two options then rather than having the exact same list duplicated in two places. Also, I didn't see this message until I got to the final section, so the others have just got w:Category:Popes without the number. I'm not sure it's worth adding this to the rest now, but I'd like to hear other views on whether than should be done. 01:07, 31 May 2004 (UTC)
- You have me totally convinced. Better than giving them numbers - and with the new beautiful lists that are created - we should categorize them by their name (so they don't all get summarized under P like pope...). I just keep on calling them Alexander 4 instead of Alexander IV, so he gets sorted at the right place. --denny vrandečić 23:28, Jun 12, 2004 (UTC)
[edit]
Naming
Articles on popes not be titled with "Pope" in them, the same goes for saints. --Alif 16:01, 31 Jan 2005 (UTC)
