In the Dungeons and Dragons role-playing game, chaotic neutral is a philosophical "alignment" indicating a focus on randomness and chaos. It is generally assumed that chaotic neutral entities are fickle and whimsical, although some interpretations have characters simply acting in whatever amoral way they wish to. The 3rd Edition of the game changes the definition to "Free Spirit," a complete individualist or anarchist.
