Crono

Template:Chrono Trigger Character

Crono (クロノ kurono) is the main character from the 1995 Super Famicom/SNES game Chrono Trigger, developed by Squaresoft.

Crono is probably meant to be named Chrono, but the game limits all names to 5 characters in length. Crono lives with his mother (Gina, in the Japanese version) in the town of Truce, under the rule of the Guardia Kingdom. He meets Marle at the Millennial Fair, and is later accused of kidnapping her. In 12000 B.C., when the party is confronted with Lavos in the Ocean Palace of the Zeal Kingdom, he sacrifices himself to save his friends. Later, using the Time Egg, he is revived. Once he obtains magical ability, his techniques are lightning oriented.

Despite being the game's protagonist, Crono never speaks in the game's dialogue, setting a precedent for silent RPG protagonists. Designed by Akira Toriyama, Crono shares many of the man's design characteristics, including lots of spiky hair, well-defined muscles, and large eyes. His weapon is the katana.

The Playstation remake of Chrono Trigger reveals that Crono and Marle marry soon after the events of the game. In the sequel, Chrono Cross, Crono, Marle and Lucca have all died. While the circumstances surrounding Lucca's death are within the game, Chrono Cross does not divulge the specific fates of Crono or Marle.
