David Harold Yost is an American actor best known for his role on the United States of America television series Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

Yost was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa on January 7, 1971. He moved around throughout the United States as a child and won many gymnastics competitions nationally. Among these were the state championships for both Iowa and Montana. He moved to California with hopes of becoming an actor and auditioned for a role in the Power Rangers series just 2 weeks after arriving. He won the part of Billy Cranston, the nerdy power ranger.

Yost starred in 200 episodes of the series over the next several years. He also portrayed Billy in his most high-profile work, Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: The Movie, which took in over $30 million at the box office in 1995.

1995 was definitely Yost's year, as he also had a minor role in the film Ladykiller. After this, however, Yost's influence began to fade. He walked off the set of his series after producer Haim Saban refused to raise his wages.

Little is known concerning Yost's activities over the next 3 years. In 2000, however, he attempted to mount a comeback, portraying a playboy photographer in the made for TV movie After Diff'rent Strokes: When the Laughter Stopped. The role had little to no impact on the film world, and Yost slipped into obscurity once again.

In 2001, he first tried his hand at producing, working on the series Alien Hunter and Temptation Island, but has not been seen in front of the camera in some 4 years.

Yostmania

Some extreme Yost fans write songs about him [1] (http://www.geocities.com/peter84au/davidsong.html) or even write themselves into Yost-related fan fiction [2] (http://www.geocities.com/peter84au/storys.html). There are also numerous Yost related fansites on the internet, including "The Yost" (http://www.pcshock.com/PRMania/Billy/index.html).

Yost has also had an impact on the vernacular of Eastern Canada. Canadian High School students have been known to quote Yost, most notably by saying "you ooze you lose." Yost's own name has even become a word with many uses, for example a "yost" is a person, animal, or inanimate object of sub-par quality; "yosting it" or "pulling a yost" is to fail at a simple task. This is not to be confused with "yosting someone" which means letting them down.

Quotations

"You ooze... You lose."
"Triceratops!"
"That's what I call a splitting Headache!"
"Affirmative!"
