Davidson, Oklahoma

Davidson is a town located in Tillman County, Oklahoma. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 375. They have a Public School which goes from K-12. Thier School Mascot is the Sandies. A Sandie is a kind of Sand Tornado. The high school offers Baseball, Softball, and Basketball. The main place to get commodities in Davidson is the Hop and Sack Convience Store. There is a Later Day Saints and Baptist Church in Davidson. Most people attend the Baptist Church. The Farmers Coop gins Cotton and Stores Wheat. There are no famous Gradutes from Davidson High School. The town flooded in 1995. There have been no major events since then. The potato chip man comes by every week.

Sherry wants everyone to know that even though she didn't get voted "most likely to succeed", (Elvia did) she DOES have a very successful career in Colorado Springs and wishes Elvia well. (kisses) Shaun is currently auditioning to be the newest member of "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy".

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.2 km² (0.5 mi²). 1.2 km² (0.5 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 375 people, 149 households, and 101 families residing in the town. The population density is 301.6/km² (777.4/mi²). There are 181 housing units at an average density of 145.6/km² (375.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 76.00% White, 1.33% African American, 2.40% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 17.07% from other races, and 3.20% from two or more races. 31.20% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 149 households out of which 32.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.0% are married couples living together, 12.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 32.2% are non-families. 30.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 13.4% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.52 and the average family size is 3.18.

In the town the population is spread out with 26.7% under the age of 18, 9.9% from 18 to 24, 25.1% from 25 to 44, 23.2% from 45 to 64, and 15.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 102.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 96.4 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $25,000, and the median income for a family is $35,208. Males have a median income of $25,156 versus $16,786 for females. The per capita income for the town is $12,679. 24.1% of the population and 19.6% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 31.3% of those under the age of 18 and 20.0% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
