East Brandenburg

East Brandenburg or Neumark Brandenburg was the name of historical region. Its Polish name is Lubus Land. Before World War II, Neumark was an eastern part of Brandenburg.
History
The area called Lubus province or Lubus Land of Poland became part of Brandenburg in 1252. The new Neumark was created on border between Pomerania and Great Poland further to the East on the forest areas between Pomerania and Great Poland At some point of time it spread across the border between Duchy of Pomerania and Greater Poland, so those 2 provinces were separated completely by the strip of Brandenburg territory, but Brandenburg had connection with Eastern Pomerania. During reign of Casimir the Great parts of Neumark, namely Santok and Drezdenko were reconquered by Poland. At some time, Neumark belonged to Kingdom of Bohemia or Teutonic Order state.
After World War II, the area was occupied by the Soviet Red Army and was annexed to Poland at the decision of Potsdam conference. The German population were expelled or were evacuated. It is now part of Lubusz Voivodship.
