Eufaula is located at 31°53'21.732" North, 85°9'13.586" West (31.889370, -85.153774)Template:GR.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 190.3 km² (73.5 mi²). 153.9 km² (59.4 mi²) of it is land and 36.4 km² (14.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 19.13% water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 13,908 people, 5,447 households, and 3,878 families residing in the city. The population density is 90.4/km² (234.1/mi²). There are 6,110 housing units at an average density of 39.7/km² (102.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 57.28% White, 40.42% Black or African American, 0.29% Native American, 0.47% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 0.86% from other races, and 0.65% from two or more races. 1.53% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 5,447 households out of which 35.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.4% are married couples living together, 20.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.8% are non-families. 26.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 11.5% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.51 and the average family size is 3.02.

In the city the population is spread out with 28.6% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to 24, 27.1% from 25 to 44, 22.6% from 45 to 64, and 13.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 86.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 79.0 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $27,910, and the median income for a family is $37,640. Males have a median income of $30,617 versus $20,477 for females. The per capita income for the city is $16,146. 23.6% of the population and 19.3% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 34.2% of those under the age of 18 and 27.2% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
