Fife

Fife (Fìobh in Gaelic ) is a unitary council region of Scotland situated between the Firth of Tay and the Firth of Forth . It was originally one of the Pictish kingdoms and is still known as the Kingdom of Fife . It is also a traditional county of Scotland , and a Lieutenancy Area .
From 1975 to 1996 Fife was divided into three districts - Dunfermline , Kirkcaldy and North-East Fife . Since 1996 the functions of these district councils have been exercised by Fife Council.
