George W. Lewis

George William Lewis (1882 - July 1948) was the Director of Aeronautical Research at the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA) in until he retired in 1947. He taught at Swarthmore College from 1910 to 1970. He was previously appointed the first Executive Officer of the NACA in 1919.
The NASA John H. Glenn Research Center at Lewis Field in Cleveland, Ohio is partly named after him.
