Glasgow is an unincorporated community and census-designated place located in New Castle County, Delaware. As of the 2000 census, the community had a total population of 12,840.

Glasgow is located at 39°36'14" North, 75°44'33" West (39.603970, -75.742408)Template:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the community has a total area of 25.6 km² (9.9 mi²). 25.6 km² (9.9 mi²) of it is land and none of it is covered by water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 12,840 people, 4,517 households, and 3,478 families residing in the community. The population density is 500.8/km² (1,297.6/mi²). There are 4,629 housing units at an average density of 180.5/km² (467.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the community is 77.98% White, 17.02% African American, 0.22% Native American, 2.33% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 1.06% from other races, and 1.37% from two or more races. 3.01% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 4,517 households out of which 44.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.9% are married couples living together, 10.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 23.0% are non-families. 16.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 2.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.84 and the average family size is 3.22.

In the community the population is spread out with 29.3% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 37.9% from 25 to 44, 20.2% from 45 to 64, and 4.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 31 years. For every 100 females there are 98.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 93.2 males.

The median income for a household in the community is $61,707, and the median income for a family is $67,252. Males have a median income of $42,788 versus $33,183 for females. The per capita income for the community is $24,795. 3.9% of the population and 2.5% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 5.2% of those under the age of 18 and 0.0% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
