Idols is a television show on the Dutch television network RTL 4, based on the popular British show Pop Idol. The show is a contest to determine the best young singer in the Netherlands.
In the show, people first audition but eventually the performers are narrowed down to 10 finalists, with each contestant performing live. There are four judges who provide critiques of each competitor's performance. After the first part of the show viewers have around one hour to vote by telephone and textmessages to vote for their favorite contestant, during this time another program is broadcasted at RTL 4. after that program has finished the second part of 'Idols' starts in which the results are presented and the contestant with the least votes is send home.
In season one, Jamai Loman won the contest, with Jim Bakkum coming in second.
In season two, Boris won the contest, with Maud coming in second.
Season three is scheduled for the autumn of 2005.
