- The blue represents the Turks
- The red represents modernisation
- The green represents Islam
- The crescent and star is the symbol of the Turks, and the eight-pointed star represents the eight Turkish peoples of Azerbaijan.
- This flag was originally adopted in 1918, and again in 1991 when independence was regained.
- Fixed size, hues based on World Flag Database (http://www.flags.net/). Redrew the star and crescent, which were too big and off-centre.
