KTTC (channel 10, 36 digital) was the first television station to operate in in Rochester, Minnesota and the third station in the state after KSTP-TV and WTCN-TV (now WCCO-TV), coming online in 1953 with the callsign KROC-TV. The station was launched by G. David Gentling, the son of KROC Radio owner Gregory P. Gentling. The family operation eventually became the Southern Minnesota Broadcasting Company, though the TV station was sold to Quincy Newspapers, Inc. in 1976 and changed its name. Today, the station shares studios with KXLT channel 47, a Fox affiliate, and KWBR channel 18, a cable-only WB affiliate. KTTC's transmitter is located very near the Iowa-Minnesota border in Ostrander, Minnesota, and reaches communities including Albert Lea, Minnesota, Austin, Minnesota, Mason City, Iowa, and Winona, Minnesota. The tower is shared with KROC-FM.
