She first appeared in Star Fox Adventures as a playable character at the beginning of the game, and shortly thereafter got reduced to a damsel in distress. Krystal's home planet of Cerinia was supposedly destroyed and her parents as well as everyone else on the planet were killed. Krystal answered a distress call from Dinosaur Planet. She was to find the truth about her parents' deaths. At the very beginning of the game, her staff fell far down into Thorntail Hollow, Dinosaur Planet. Her staff later ended up temporarily in the hands of Fox McCloud. When she was flying a CloudRunner named Kyte, she was invincible. Her invincibility wore off when she landed on Krazoa palace. Krystal walked through Krazoa palace and consulted the wounded EarthWalkers. Then she entered the first Krazoa shrine, completed the test of observation, and the first Krazoa entered her body. After returning from the Krazoa Shrine, Krystal listened to the dying EarthWalker's last words. Shortly after the EarthWalker died, she went to the Krazoa Spirit platform and released the first Krazoa. Shortly after she released him, Andross discovered that she was able to channel the power of the Krazoa. As a result, Andross reduced Krystal to Fox McCloud's damsel in distress by trapping her into a crystal shaped like a Hyrulean Rupee and sending her atop the Krazoa Palace. It is obvious that Krystal had either met or at least seen Andross prior to this encounter as she gasps "It's You!" in the Dinosaur Language as Andross traps her (though the player at the time doesn't know it is Andross. That is revealed at the end of the game). Immediately afterward, General Pepper got Fox McCloud started on a mission to save Dinosaur Planet.

Fox McCloud found Krystal's staff on Thorntail Hollow, and then he heard Krystal's voice for instructions on how to use it. Released by Krystal, the first Krazoa talked to him and made him hear Krystal's voice pleading for help. In order to release Krystal, Fox McCloud must finish what she started, collecting the remaining five Krazoas and releasing them to the Krazoa Palace. At the first time he entered Krazoa Palace, he found her just before releasing the second Krazoa. Shortly after he released her, after releasing the last Krazoa, Fox lifted up Krystal and then the staff returned to Krystal's hands, and immediately Andross awakened. After the final confrontation of Star Fox Adventures, the battle against Andross, Dinosaur Planet is saved. Falco Lombardi rejoined the Star Fox team, and Krystal appreciated what Fox did for her. After that, Krystal entered the Great Fox and reunited herself with Fox and then joined the Star Fox team. As ROB 64 sensed, Fox and Krystal started to fall in love, which marks the very end of the story of Star Fox Adventures.

In Star Fox: Assault, Krystal does not play a large role, as she did in Star Fox Adventures. She now flies an Arwing and uses her telepathy trait to sense an enemy's presence and weak point.
