Morgan Spurlock
Morgan Spurlock (born November 7, 1970) is an American independent film director and screenwriter, known for the documentary film Super Size Me, in which he featured the ill-health effects of McDonalds food.

He was born in Parkersburg, West Virginia, and lives in Manhattan. Before making Super Size Me, Spurlock created I Bet You Will for MTV. [1] (http://www.cnn.com/2004/SHOWBIZ/Movies/06/09/film.spurlock.reut/) He had been rejected five times by the USC film school.

Spurlock was of above-average health for his age in 2003, when he undertook the project shown in Super Size Me. In the film, he ate three McDonald's meals a day every day for 30 days, taking the 'Super-Size' option whenever it was offered. His health suffered drastically —he gained 25 pounds and suffered severe liver dysfunction and depression. His supervising physicians were astounded by the destruction caused by the high-fat, high-carb —one even comparing it to a case of severe binge alcoholism.

After the completion of the project, it took Spurlock several months to return to his normal weight of 185 pounds. His girlfriend, vegan chef Alexandra Jamieson, took charge of his recovery with her "detox diet," which was the basis for a later book, titled The Great American Detox Diet. Spurlock's current project is a TV show based on the film called 30 Days. The premise of the show is that for each episode, the host (or someone else) will spend 30 days immersing him or herself in a subject (e.g. working at Wal-Mart, being in prison, living as a Muslim etc.) while also discussing the social issues behind it. FX began airing the show on June 15, 2005, with the pilot episode "Minimum Wage", where Morgan and his fiancée, Alex, lived for 30 days in the Bottoms neighborhood of Columbus, Ohio, earning and trying to get by on minimum wage, with no access to their prior cash and credit cards, and living in an apartment where rent was less than their combined wages for one week.
