Paint Shop Pro

Template:Infobox Software Paint Shop Pro (PSP) is a bitmap graphics editor for computers running the Microsoft Windows operating system that was originally published by Minneapolis-based Jasc Software. In October 2004, Corel Corporation bought out Jasc software, and with it, the distribution rights to Paint Shop Pro.
PSP was distributed as shareware, but now is sold for $100, or after rebate, $50—which is considerably lower than most professional image editors. Its learning curve is quite rapid. However, its user base is large due to the fact that many mid-range scanners come with PSP as their acquisition tool and image editor, and many OEM's including Dell have or do bundle it with their systems.
It is also very popular as it is much cheaper in price than most professional image editors, like Photoshop, instead competing in the same price class as Photoshop Elements. It also uses the same plugin architecture as Photoshop, allowing for a high degree of expandability. Although Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop have similar functions, most office companies will opt for the pricier full version of Photoshop.
Beginning in version 6.0, Jasc software bundled Animation Shop, an animated graphics editor, with Paint Shop Pro. The program is available separately for 40 dollars.
In the UK and Ireland, the distribution is managed by Digital Workshop, the producers of Opus Presenter, and a number of commercial PSP plugins.
