Paktia province is one of the thirty-four provinces of Afghanistan. It is in the east of the country. Its capital is Gardiz. It used to cover Khost province, which was split off recently.
Doctor Najibullah Ahmadzai the former president of Afghanistan is from Paktia province. He was born in Melan Vally. Mohammad Abid Amiri is who is one of YES Afghanistan Exchage student from Paktia province. He has tow brothers Hamid Amiri and Ibrahim Amiri. He lives in New York State of United States of Ameriaca now. He would like to go back home and live in Paktia-e-shareef.
