Name Origin

The name Porygon2 suggests that this Pokémon is a second, upgraded version of Porygon. The name "Porygon" is a Japanese form of the word polygon.

Avaliability

Porygon2 is available in Gold, Silver, Crystal, Fire Red, and Leaf Green. In each version, you have to attach the item Upgrade to Porygon and trade it to the other game.

Information

This upgraded version of Porygon is designed for space exploration. It can't fly, though. Further research enhanced its abilities. Sometimes, it may exhibit motions that were not programmed. The man-made Pokémon has been endowed with artificial intelligence that enables it to learn new gestures and emotions on its own. In 3-D games such as Pokémon Colosseum, it is frequently seen bobbing its head up and down like a duck in water. This is seen as humorous, and thus an opponent is caught off-guard when Porygon2 attacks.

Porygon2 appears in Super Smash Bros. Melee as one of the Pokémon that comes out of the Pokéball. In SSBM, it charges in the direction it faces, damaging anyone in its path. Then, it will stay still and disappear, notably in a block of pixels.

Animé Appearances

Perhaps as a result of the seizure incident following the airing of "Electric Soldier Porygon", Porygon2 has never been seen in the animé.
