Riddle is a city located in Douglas County, Oregon. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 1,014.

Riddle is located at 42°57'6" North, 123°21'54" West (42.951605, -123.365052)Template:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.7 km² (0.7 mi²). 1.7 km² (0.7 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 1,014 people, 381 households, and 265 families residing in the city. The population density is 584.3/km² (1,519.6/mi²). There are 406 housing units at an average density of 234.0/km² (608.5/mi²). The racial makeup of the city is 94.48% White, 0.00% African American, 2.27% Native American, 0.10% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.20% from other races, and 2.96% from two or more races. 1.97% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 381 households out of which 36.0% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 50.4% are married couples living together, 13.6% have a female householder with no husband present, and 30.2% are non-families. 24.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.66 and the average family size is 3.15.

In the city the population is spread out with 31.2% under the age of 18, 9.4% from 18 to 24, 25.7% from 25 to 44, 21.8% from 45 to 64, and 11.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 33 years. For every 100 females there are 96.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 84.7 males.

The median income for a household in the city is $28,750, and the median income for a family is $37,159. Males have a median income of $31,438 versus $27,232 for females. The per capita income for the city is $13,666. 19.0% of the population and 16.1% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 21.1% of those under the age of 18 and 10.6% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
