Rosendale (Rosendale Village) is a hamlet (and census-designated place) located in Ulster County, New York. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 1,374.
Rosendale is situated within the Town of Rosendale.

History
The village was an incorporated village until it was dissolved by voter referendum in 1978. It is now an unincorporated hamlet, featuring a downtown business district and Post Office (Zip Code 12472).
Geography
The community is located on the banks of the Rondout Creek.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 5.1 km² (2.0 mi²). 4.9 km² (1.9 mi²) of it is land and 0.2 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 3.57% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 1,374 people, 602 households, and 329 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 280.7/km² (725.5/mi²). There are 666 housing units at an average density of 136.1/km² (351.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 94.91% White, 2.33% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.51% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 1.16% from other races, and 1.09% from two or more races. 4.00% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 602 households out of which 25.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 40.7% are married couples living together, 9.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 45.2% are non-families. 34.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 12.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.27 and the average family size is 2.97.
In the CDP the population is spread out with 21.0% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 32.5% from 25 to 44, 25.8% from 45 to 64, and 12.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 39 years. For every 100 females there are 93.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 90.7 males.
The median income for a household in the CDP is $34,712, and the median income for a family is $50,789. Males have a median income of $35,259 versus $25,764 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $20,700. 8.2% of the population and 5.2% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 8.6% of those under the age of 18 and 3.6% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
