Ruwer (municipality)

de:Verbandsgemeinde Ruwer Ruwer is a municipality (a convention community called Verbandsgemeinde Ruwer) with more than 18000 inhabitants at the river Ruwer near Trier in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is famous for the wine from the wine-growing-region Mosel-Saar-Ruwer, that was founded by the Romans, 2000 years ago. The administrative seat is in Ruwer, which was an independent municipality until it was incorporated into the city Trier. Even though it since does not belong to the Verbandsgemeinde anymore the administration wasn't moved.
These villages belong to the municipality of Ruwer: Bonerath, Farschweiler, Gusterath, Gutweiler, Herl, Hinzenburg, Holzerath, Kasel, Korlingen, Lorscheid, Mertesdorf, Morscheid, Ollmuth, Osburg, Pluwig, Riveris, Schöndorf, Sommerau, Thomm, Waldrach.
The municipality of Ruwer is a part of the district Trier-Saarburg.
