Sharon, Ontario is a former village which has been incorporated into the municipality of the Town of East Gwillimbury, formerly the Township of East Gwillimbury. The municipal offices of the town are located in Sharon.
The Sharon Temple, the one-time meeting house of the Children of Peace (or Davidite) religious sect, located in Sharon, is part of the architectural heritage of Ontario. It is now a museum and historic site.
Sharon is northeast of Newmarket, Ontario.
In the mid to late 1990s, housing developments with 70'(23 m) and 80' (26 m) lots in the area around Sharon. The developments continue slowly around Sharon. Since 2002, the interchange with the superhighway (Highway 404) is accessed with Garden Road and is the northernmost, before 2001, the nearest interchange was at Davis. The future plan of the superhighway may or may not run to the east or will mainly run to the south which has been in plan since the mid to late 20th century but not yet opened.
