Talk:Iterative method

Old remark
"An iterative method attempts to solve a problem ... by finding subsequent approximations to the solution."
Should it not read successive instead of subsequent?

Strange mention and request
Who is Stiefel mentioned in the article? Is that name inserted there just a play by somebody?
Will somebody write a page for the conjugate gradient method to which this article refers?
- The conjugate gradient method is proposed in Hestenes, Magnus R.; Stiefel, Eduard, Methods of conjugate gradients for solving linear systems, J. Research Nat. Bur. Standards 49 (1952), 409--436 (1953). I amended the article accordingly. Your request for a page on this method has been added to my to-do list (I won't promise anything). -- Jitse Niesen 16:10, 4 Jan 2005 (UTC)
