Talk:Microsoft Flight Simulator

From Academic Kids

Damn, I lost the history for this page trying to move it. Previously it was named [[Microsoft™ Flight Simulator]], I tried to move it to Microsoft Flight Simulator (looks like Mav attempted the same thing). But that lost the article and replaced it with a redirect to itself. I rescued the original article text out of my browser cache. --Nate 00:46 Dec 21, 2002 (UTC)

Ugh, fixed it. --Brion 00:59 Dec 21, 2002 (UTC)
Thanks --Nate 02:14 Dec 21, 2002 (UTC)

Lost in the move was my note: previous version made the dubious claim that use of trademarked symbols does not "incur copyright issues" because it's given away for free. Removed that. --Nate 02:14 Dec 21, 2002 (UTC)

"developed by Microsoft" - at least in the early stages, I though the program was written by Sublogic, and the PC version branded as "Microsoft Flight Simulator" - versions for other platforms being just "Flight Simulator". I assume MS took over development at some point, as Sublogic were eventually bought out by Sierra.

Also, "it has only ever been available for PCs and early Apples" - Sublogic's Flight Simulator 2 was also available for the Atari ST and Amiga. However, I may be wrong about the provenance of MFS, and since Sublogic were bought out long ago, it's hard to verify. Anyone know for sure? -- DrBob

I seem to remember having an old version for Atari (8-bit); I'm pretty sure it was branded as Microsoft Flight Simulator. Might have been version 2? --Brion 19:53 Jan 9, 2003 (UTC)
Version 4 was available on the Mac around 1992, I think that was the last Mac version, may also have been the first! Graham 07:50, 10 Dec 2003 (UTC)
I had SubLogic Flight Simulator II (not Microsoft branded) for the Commodore 64 in the mid-'80s. So I took out the line in the article saying that it wasn't sold under SubLogic's name after 1978. --Arteitle 20:30, Jan 3, 2005 (UTC)

Cleaned up the article a bit. Moved some sentences around into better paragraphs; removed statement that it has "only ever been available for PCs and early Apples" since that is stated now in the first graf; removed or replaced the word "game" throughout since the articles says it's not a game but a simulation. --Nate 19:59 Jan 9, 2003 (UTC)

Anyone know anything about Microsoft Fight Stimulator? Or was that Win 95?
