A person is one of the most important 100 concepts of man. A person is first and foremost a face, especially the eyes of a holder of face (masque=persona). The first and perhaps the most imprinted image of a person (character in a play) in life to appear to a baby, etc. On sheer analogy the unsuing characters to appear in life are also supposed to have a face (with two eyes), whether they do or not, the look of which is sought to make mental/emotional contact. Thus every object, live or dead is assumed to have a face to seek, hence e...g. all religious invocations are directed to the face/look of God (of various kinds) for mercy, help, etc. There is an inherent tendency in man for personification of almost anything, from natural forces to buildings, from fictitious to realistic objects. Persons in grammar (general enumeration) reveal a lot about man's basic conception of the world, with him being the first, another one to look at or to address his words to, and the rest of the wide world (third person singular and plural). This also shows that amn is only capable of communicating with one person at a time (interpersonal communication) due to his limited (narrow) focus and serial approach to perception. Still, a face or an image (facade, persona) seems to remain the most important /salient feature of any entity a) to remember b) to mainpulate with c) to characterise the beholder in contemporary society as well. apogr

Peter Kreeft
I have been attempting to link to Peter Kreeft's argument (http://www.peterkreeft.com/topics-more/personhood.htm) that all humans are necessarily persons. But UninvitedCo.,Inc. keeps reverting my changes.
- It's because describing Peter Kreeft as a "philospher" and linking to his website that is clearly bias'd towards a religious view is not deemed impartial. I'd recommend bringing the subject up here for people to discuss, and then perhaps you can work it in logically. Adding the links to things like additional views and other places would be more appropriate than the body of the articles. Wikibofh 23:58, 14 Apr 2005 (UTC)
