List of North American birds

Thanks for doing the promotion. I think we can be quietly pleased with progress to date. Filiocht | Blarneyman 15:01, Jun 1, 2005 (UTC)

sorry!

Sorry about that edit conflict; I saw your note on Filiochit's talk page that you weren't sure if you were going to be able to "save the popes" so I figured I'd take care of it. Hopefully it didn't cost you too much time. --Spangineer 18:10, Jun 1, 2005 (UTC)

Sudoko

Let's put it this way: if you put one of those puzzles in front of me and I had to learn how to play it from our article, I would not be able to! It's a good article, very detailed and all, but as with some articles I've written (see for instance Architecture of Btrieve) an outsider would find it difficult to understand the mechanics of the game. - Ta bu shi da yu 23:31, 1 Jun 2005 (UTC)

re: Galena (mineral)??

What happened? Your last edit to Galena (mineral) summary says (Reverted edits by Vsmith to last version by Quuxplusone) and there was no edit reverted. Then when I looked at the history there was a redirect edit on Apr 22 that I did not make??? On Apr 22 I redirected the lead sulphide article to lead sulfide not the galena (mineral) article. Most confused. Vsmith 23:52, 3 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Thanks - kinda figured it was something like that - sounds like you had fun :-) with it. I may have done the cut & paste job last year when I was more a newbie than now, I'm learning. I have also requested a move from galena (mineral) to just plain galena which is now a redirect - in case you want to have some more fun. Thanks Vsmith 02:26, 4 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Template:Reqimage

I see that you coffee rolled the template, I originally couldn't get the image to align properly. Although I proposed adding the image to the coffe-rolled version, I also proposed the new version, and to move it off of the talk page. There was no opposition and some support for this. I intended for it to be a bit bolder and eye catching, however I did think its size could be downgraded. Photographs are requested a little more than standard pictures, however it would work for both. Here are my proposal pages 1, 2, 3. I also advertised it on Category:Articles needing images, until I placed it in use. Please let me know your thoughts on this, as it was not just a hasty design change, as I proposed the idea for more than 2 weeks. Thank you. <>Who?¿? 16:29, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Semispam

Hi, ALoan, this is not strictly speaking a spam message, it goes to you and Filiocht only. I put up a little straw poll about the new FARC rules at Wikipedia talk:Featured article removal candidates, perhaps you'd care to contribute? Normally I would just have been bold, but I have contributed so little to WP:FARC that I feel a delicacy about editing its instructions out of the blue. Bishonen | talk 20:40, 10 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Image copyrights

Hello ALoan! I've granted permission from UN Photo Department to use their photos here. With which image copyright tag should I tag these photos? I am not sure, cause of upcoming deleting campaign on "noncommercial" and "permission" photos. -- Darwinek 09:55, 12 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Wikifun Round 9

Thanks...

...for the kind words. I've continued lurking about, tweaking here and there, cooling off. If nothing else, the discussion of my post at the Village Pump seems to have brought some things to a head, gotten assorted feelings out in the open. Much better than simmering in silence. I've even learned how to change an article title. My mind is off magazines for the moment; presently, will be working on Film/Cinema, which seems to be in need of some major structuring. If I'd just remember to log in! I just did a 45-min "shell" of pre-Soviet Russian film history (as Film in Russia), which I think makes for a good jumping-off point, unlogged - I can't get no respect that way. Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/Australian national cricket captains

Hi, You pointed out that the images in the above was not rendering correctly with the classic skin. That's fixed now. - Ian 07:44, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Thanks, belatedly

Good to have people notice your edits and then leave nice notes for you. Tax law + astronomy + wiki seems like an interesting combination. Bambaiah 12:05, Jun 13, 2005 (UTC)

My list disaster

Thanks for fixing up my attempted promotion. It seems the database was locked while I was in full flow. Filiocht | Blarneyman 12:47, Jun 15, 2005 (UTC)

Good fix

Thank you for your fix of the picture issue on List of current and former capital cities within U.S. states. I thought of several solutions, but none were as simple and elegant as yours. NoSeptember (talk) 14:31, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Timeline of discovery of Solar System planets and their natural satellites

I rolled back your change of planet ordering for the following reason: the "prehistorical" sequence of celestial bodies was, as stated in the text just above the table, « seven planets: the Moon, Mercury, Venus, the Sun, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn, which were all thought to orbit the Earth. ». The Sun position you edited is a modern viewpoint.

Thanks

Thanks for your reverrting edits they are appreciated. I have used all mine untill some-time late tonight. Giano | talk 15:46, 15 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Blue Ant / Awesome

I don't know if it's just coincidence (wanted pages, etc.) or what, but it's retarded (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=retarded&skip=10#1097223) how little time transpired between me softlinking to Blue Ant at the reference desk and you creating the article. Kudos. ¦ Reisio 10:41, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Indeed. Further evidence that Wikipedians rock. Kudos --Tagishsimon (talk)

Well thanks to all you guys for making the page on my photo. --Fir0002 10:14, Jun 19, 2005 (UTC)

Taxoboxes

Taxoboxes are documented in some detail at Wikipedia:WikiProject Tree of Life/taxobox usage. The general rule is to give the seven major ranks plus just enough of the minor ranks to give context to the taxon being described in the article. (Thus superfamily can be specified if the article is about a family, tribe if the article is about a genus, etc.) Gdr 11:14, 2005 Jun 16 (UTC)

FARC proposal

Nichalp has expressed his approval of a compromise solution that I proposed that is similar to a suggestion made by Piotrus. Please comment if you have the chance. Thanks. --Spangineer (háblame) 18:26, Jun 16, 2005 (UTC)

Updated DYK query

Did you know? has been updated. A fact from the article Blue Ant, which you recently created, has been featured in that section on the Main Page. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently-created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

Theo RFA

Thank you for supporting my nomination. What do I need to do for you to want me to get the bucket too?Theo (Talk) 11:04, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Thanks too for the support of David Helvarg FAC.—Theo (Talk) 11:16, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)

More Thanks

Thank you for fixing my talk page. I had decided to refrain from archiving the page until my RFA was done. I agree that it is way too long!—Theo (Talk) 13:06, 17 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Ohio counties

By the time I received your message, Docu had combined the list onto a single page. PedanticallySpeaking 14:26, Jun 17, 2005 (UTC)

Promoted now. Filiocht | Blarneyman 14:52, Jun 20, 2005 (UTC)
I'd very much like you to look at this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Administrators%27_noticeboard#Vandalizing_my_user_page) and tell me to shut up if I'm being just plain stupid. Filiocht | Blarneyman 15:05, Jun 20, 2005 (UTC)
I suppose you're right, but going here and getting into a narrow circle of clicks when I try to find out about whose sock this user is strikes me as just plain silly. As for this constant dragging in postings on the mailing list and IRC; it makes me want to spit. Filiocht | Blarneyman 15:17, Jun 20, 2005 (UTC)

Featured lists

Just felt the need to go somewhere and shout 8 really loudly. 8!. Already! Filiocht | Blarneyman 12:02, Jun 22, 2005 (UTC)

Yes, you're right. The value of FLC is to let this good content shine and to set a benchmark for other lists. I can live with the cricket theme, if we can't have more poetry. Filiocht | Blarneyman 13:02, Jun 22, 2005 (UTC)
Why not the ultimate inclusionist List of everybody, ever? Filiocht | Blarneyman 14:02, Jun 22, 2005 (UTC)

User:Pcpcpc

Thanks for the tip off, I actually never fell out with the last few aliases, he just dragged my name up again when someone else upset him. Sad little twit really! Sorry so long to reply just had a few days sailing, to return to find it's hotter here. That's a first! Regards Giano | talk 10:16, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Buckingham Palace

It's very flattering that you have, yet again, nominated Buckingham Palace, bit I fear you are flogging a dead (albeit thoroughbred) horse. Blenheim Palace is much better and that too failed, I fear some people just don't like palaces, I seem to have more luck these days with New Zealand's architecture, it appeals to a more egalitarian readership I suppose.Giano | talk 12:38, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)

  • We shall see! I'm not putting any money on it though. Regards Giano | talk 12:56, 23 Jun 2005 (UTC)
