Warren County is a county located in the state of Missouri. As of 2000, the population is 24,525. Its county seat is Warrenton6.

Geography

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1,134 km² (438 mi²). 1,117 km² (431 mi²) of it is land and 17 km² (6 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 1.47% water.

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 24,525 people, 9,185 households, and 6,888 families residing in the county. The population density is 22/km² (57/mi²). There are 11,046 housing units at an average density of 10/km² (26/mi²). The racial makeup of the county is 95.89% White, 1.94% Black or African American, 0.45% Native American, 0.24% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.44% from other races, and 1.02% from two or more races. 1.28% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 9,185 households out of which 34.70% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.20% are married couples living together, 8.90% have a female householder with no husband present, and 25.00% are non-families. 20.80% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.80% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.64 and the average family size is 3.05.

In the county the population is spread out with 26.90% under the age of 18, 7.60% from 18 to 24, 28.80% from 25 to 44, 23.70% from 45 to 64, and 13.00% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 98.60 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 96.10 males.

The median income for a household in the county is $41,016, and the median income for a family is $46,863. Males have a median income of $36,315 versus $23,443 for females. The per capita income for the county is $19,690. 8.60% of the population and 6.40% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 10.50% of those under the age of 18 and 10.40% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
