Woodbridge is a census-designated place located in Prince William County, Virginia. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 31,941.

Woodbridge is located at 38°38'37" North, 77°15'39" West (38.643517, -77.260843)Template:GR.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 27.9 km² (10.8 mi²). 27.1 km² (10.5 mi²) of it is land and 0.8 km² (0.3 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 2.87% water.

Historically, Woodbridge (zip code 22191) denoted the unincorporated residential and commercial areas that were in the eastern part of Prince William County in the vicinity of U. S. Rte. 1 (north-south corridor). Because of rapid growth in the last 30 years, however, Woodbridge now includes the communities of Lake Ridge, Westridge, Rollingwood Village and Dale City. All of these communities are zip code 22192, except for Dale City, which is zip code 22193.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 31,941 people, 10,687 households, and 7,769 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 1,176.8/km² (3,047.8/mi²). There are 11,026 housing units at an average density of 406.2/km² (1,052.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is 56.34% White, 23.45% African American, 0.55% Native American, 4.90% Asian, 0.17% Pacific Islander, 9.62% from other races, and 4.96% from two or more races. 19.07% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 10,687 households out of which 41.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 52.3% are married couples living together, 14.2% have a female householder with no husband present, and 27.3% are non-families. 20.4% of all households are made up of individuals and 3.9% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.96 and the average family size is 3.40.

In the CDP the population is spread out with 30.0% under the age of 18, 10.7% from 18 to 24, 35.7% from 25 to 44, 17.0% from 45 to 64, and 6.7% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 30 years. For every 100 females there are 102.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 100.2 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP is $50,525, and the median income for a family is $52,362. Males have a median income of $35,538 versus $28,587 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $19,810. 5.5% of the population and 4.6% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 7.7% of those under the age of 18 and 5.9% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
