Bennett, Iowa

Bennett is a city located in Cedar County, Iowa. As of the 2000 census, the city had a total population of 395.

The town is home to a public school, Bennett Community School, whose district includes the town of Bennett and surrounding rural areas as well as the neighboring town of New Liberty, Iowa. The school is currently K-12, but beginning with the 2005-2006 school year, the junior and senior high school (grades 7-12) will enter in a whole grade sharing agreement with the neighboring school in Durant, Iowa, primarily due to declining enrollment and to budget issues created by pressure from the Iowa government for smaller schools to reorganize. The elementary will continue to operate. Some fear this may have a negative impact on the town's population and vitality.
