Daisuke Matsuzaka

Daisuke Matsuzaka (松坂大輔 Matsuzaka Daisuke, born September 13, 1980) is a right-handed pitcher who has played for the Seibu Lions since 1999.
People born in the 1980 fiscal year (from April 1, 1980 to following March 31, 1981) have been called the Matsuzaka generation (松坂世代 Matsuzaka sedai).
Matsuzaka was a pitcher when he was in Yokohama High School, including a no-hitter in national high school baseball championship. When he graduated from high school, he joined the Seibu Lions.
In his first season (1999), he had 16 wins and 5 losses, making him the rookie of the year. At the same time, he became the ace of Seibu Lions.
Last season (2003), he had 16 wins and 7 loss, and got the Pacific League ERA title(2.83).
He also was chosen for Japan National Baseball Team, and pitched against South Korea. He participated at the 2004 Olympic Games and won the Olympic Bronze Medal with Japan National Team.
