Frinton-on-Sea

Template:GBdot Frinton-on-Sea is a small seaside town in Essex, England, in the Tendring district.
A tourist resort of particularly conservative nature, until recently the town boasted "no pubs inside The Gates". The gates refer to the railway gates that are manually operated. Frinton only has 2 points of entry by road, one being a private road coming from Walton in the north or through the railway gates. Certain people maintain that you are only a proper Frintonian if you live inside these gates.
Following the establishment of "The Lock and Barrel" pub in September 2000, a chip shop has also be permitted to open in the town.
Frinton-on-Sea can be reached by rail (the town is bounded by the Colchester to Walton-on-Naze railway line and has its own station) or bus from Clacton-on-Sea. It has a sandy beach with facilities and beach wardens in season and an area of sea zoned for swimming, sailing, and windsurfing. The area abov the beach is called the Greensward which is governed by by-laws which renders the presence of coaches, ice cream vans and ball games illegal although final one of these is rarely enforced.
