Hasimir Fenring

Hasimir Fenring is a fictional character in the Dune universe created by Frank Herbert. He featured in the science fiction novel Dune by Frank Herbert. He was also a key character in the Prelude to Dune trilogy by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson.
Hasimir Fenring has always been a figure of mystery throughout the Imperium; with much of his origin and activities, beyond being the childhood companion of Shaddam Corrino IV, remaining mysterious.
Depending on which source is relied upon, Fenring was born in either 10,118 AG (After Guild) or 10,133 AG on Kaitain. His mother, Lady Chaola or Cirni Fenring, was a Bene Gesserit and lady-in-waiting to Habla, the fourth wife of Elrood Corrino IX, served as wet nurse to both her son and Shaddam. According to one source, Lady Fenring may also have been a sister to Elrood.
House Fenring, a minor House long allied with House Corrino, was a significant addition to the Bene Gesserit breeding program to produce the Kwisatz Haderach. Hasimir Fenring was a prime candidate for this genetic potential, but this did not eventuate due to Fenring being a genetic eunuch.
Nonetheless, the intense Bene Gesserit breeding program produced a supremely intelligent and perceptive killer who would later serve as Emperor Shaddam's chief counsellor. For this reason Fenring was frequently described as "the Emperor's errand boy" as Shaddam often deployed Fenring to deal with the most troublesome issues within the Empire. Baron Vladimir Harkonnen described Fenring, during one such errand, as a "killer with the manners of a rabbit."
Although known to be one of the deadliest duelists in the Imperium, Fenring's fearsome reputation in his youth really stemmed from the rumour of his assassination of Shaddam's father in order to place his old friend on the Imperial throne. In later years he would also serve as Governor of Arrakis during the handover period between House Harkonnen and House Atreides.
The only known time in which Fenring refused his Emperor's wishes was when Shaddam ordered him to kill Paul Muad'Dib Atreides. Fenring refused because he recognised in Paul the closest he had to a kindred spirit, as Paul had become the Kwisatz Haderach.
When Shaddam started to act without Fenring's counsel, he began making grievous mishaps, namely: using atomic weapons, a biological plague, and threatening to destroy Arrakis ('Dune').fr:Hasimir Fenring
