Jose Antonio Davila

Dr. Jose Antonio Davila (October 7, 1898 - December 4, 1941) born in the City of Bayamon, Puerto Rico, was a well known poet during Puerto Rico's post-modern era of poetry.
Jose Antonio Davila studied medicine and became a medical doctor. He established his medical practice in Bayamon, where he lived all of his live. However, Davila was best known for his poetic contributions to Puerto Rico's culture.
Davila's main source of inspiration was his father, the renowned poet and Mayor of Bayamon, Virgilio Davila.
Much of Davila's work was published posthumously. Among his works are: "Venimia(1940)"; "Los Motivos de Tristan (1957)" (The Motives of Tristan); "Poemas (1964)" (Poems); and "Almacen de Baratijas".
Jose Antonio Davila died in the City of Bayamon on December 4, 1941.
In his memory the City of Bayamon has named a school and an avenue after him.
