K-Rock

K-Rock is a commercial FM radio station based in Geelong, Victoria, Australia. The station, originally 3GL on the AM band, changed to the FM band in the late 1990 and dropped the 3GL call sign. It was bought by the Ridley Corporation who set up a large studio in North Geelong where 3XY (now 3EE) were also relocated to. In the early 1990s K-Rock was sold to new owners who have since bought rival Geelong FM station Bay FM. K-Rock operates a mainstream Top 40 playlist and its name is taken from Los Angleles broadcaster KROQ.
3GL
K-Rock still own the 3GL AM licence, it has been leased out for a nominal figure to several minority groups since 3GL stopped broadcasting. Both K-Rock and Bay FM now operate from the same studios in Geelong's CBD.
