Mack Reynolds

Mack Reynolds (Dallas McCord Reynolds) (November 11, 1917 - January 30, 1983) was an American pulp science fiction magazine author. Many of his stories were published in Galaxy Magazine and Worlds of If Magazine. He was an organizer for the Socialist Labor Party and consequently many of his stories have a reformist theme, and almost all his novels explore economic issues to some degree. He was quite popular in the 1960s but most of his work is out of print today.

Mack Reynolds was born in Corcoran, California in 1917. His home was primarily in Mexico from the early 1950s to his death in San Luis Potosi, Mexico in 1983.

Most of his stories took place in Utopian Societies, many of which fulfilled L.L. Zamenhof's dream of Esperanto used world-wide as a universal second language. His novels predicted many things which have come, pocket computers, world-wide networks with information available at fingertips.

Reynolds has the distinction of being the first author to write an original novel based upon Star Trek. Mission to Horatius, aimed at young readers, appeared in 1968.

His pen names included: Clark Collins, Mark Mallory, Guy McCord, and Dallas Ross.
