Mansfield Township is a township located in Burlington County, New Jersey. As of the 2000 census, the township had a total population of 5,090.
Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 56.6 km² (21.9 mi²). 56.3 km² (21.7 mi²) of it is land and 0.4 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 0.64% water.
Mansfield Township borders Bordentown Township, Chesterfield Township, Springfield Township, and Florence Township.
Demographics
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 5,090 people, 2,077 households, and 1,561 families residing in the township. The population density is 90.5/km² (234.3/mi²). There are 2,122 housing units at an average density of 37.7/km² (97.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the township is 95.42% White, 1.91% African American, 0.18% Native American, 1.49% Asian, 0.04% Pacific Islander, 0.22% from other races, and 0.75% from two or more races. 1.83% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 2,077 households out of which 23.8% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 68.4% are married couples living together, 4.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 24.8% are non-families. 22.6% of all households are made up of individuals and 17.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.45 and the average family size is 2.86.
In the township the population is spread out with 18.7% under the age of 18, 4.9% from 18 to 24, 21.4% from 25 to 44, 23.1% from 45 to 64, and 31.9% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 49 years. For every 100 females there are 92.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 87.8 males.
