Otway is a village located in Scioto County, Ohio. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 86.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.6 km² (0.2 mi²). 0.6 km² (0.2 mi²) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 86 people, 40 households, and 26 families residing in the village. The population density is 150.9/km² (388.1/mi²). There are 59 housing units at an average density of 103.5/km² (266.2/mi²). The racial makeup of the village is 96.51% White, 0.00% African American, 1.16% Native American, 0.00% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 2.33% from other races, and 0.00% from two or more races. 2.33% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There are 40 households out of which 17.5% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.5% are married couples living together, 12.5% have a female householder with no husband present, and 35.0% are non-families. 35.0% of all households are made up of individuals and 20.0% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.15 and the average family size is 2.77.

In the village the population is spread out with 16.3% under the age of 18, 14.0% from 18 to 24, 23.3% from 25 to 44, 20.9% from 45 to 64, and 25.6% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 44 years. For every 100 females there are 79.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 75.6 males.

The median income for a household in the village is $27,500, and the median income for a family is $35,000. Males have a median income of $32,500 versus $25,625 for females. The per capita income for the village is $12,966. 14.1% of the population and 11.5% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 21.1% of those under the age of 18 and 15.8% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
