Shusuke Fuji
Syuusuke Fuji (不二 周助 Fuji Shūsuke) is a fictional character in the anime and manga The Prince of Tennis. His name is rendered Syuusuke Fuji in the original Japanese anime, and Shusuke Fuji in the English manga.
Fuji is a third year student at Seishun Academy Middle School (Seigaku). He is known as a tennis prodigy and appears to be a nice and jovial guy, well illustrated by his closed eyes. (He has actually admitted to Takeshi Momoshiro that he loves watching people suffer.) But when he is serious, his eyes open and he will employ one of his many excellent shots, known as the Triple Counters. His special shots include "tsubame gaeshi" (the swallow return), which crawls across the ground when it lands, "higuma otoshi" (the bear drop), which can counter any overhead smash, and "hakugei" (the white whale), which flies towards the opponent and suddenly spins upward only to land on the baseline and come right back to Fuji, can only be used when there's wind. Finally, he can use his "cut serve". This is an underhand serve that causes the ball to "disappear" before the oppenent can get ready to return it.
Fuji is also the only Seigaku member, and probably the only person in the world, who is immune to (most of) Sadaharu Inui's various drinks. However, Fuji faints after drinking Aozu, a horrific blue vinegar concoction. (After that incident, Inui often accuses Fuji of holding a grudge against him because of Aozu.)
Fuji has an older sister Yumiko and a younger brother Yuuta. Fuji is particularly protective of Yuuta, and cruelly defeated St. Rudolph's Hajime Mizuki after allowing Mizuki to reach a score of 5-0 because Mizuki was willing to sacrifice Yuuta's physical well-being for a St. Rudolph victory.
