The term son of a bitch or son-of-a-bitch is a form of profanity usually used to refer to an individual who is nasty, rude or otherwise offensive. It is slightly different from the word it derives from, bitch, in that a "bitch" can be used non-pejoratively to refer to a female dog (and the term is still used in that sense by dog breeders) while this term is usually only pejorative usage, i.e. it is used in context to mean an insult. It also used as an exclamation or in an exclamative pretext.
