Sonic Advance 2 is a platform game in the Sonic the Hedgehog series that was released for the Game Boy Advance. It is a side-scrolling platformer.
The game was released in Japan on December 19, 2002. It was released in North America on March 10, 2003, and it was released in Europe on March 18, 2003.
It is based on a modified version of Sonic Advance's engine.
In order to get to the special stages, one must collect all seven special rings in a stage. If one passes the stage, the character gets a Chaos Emerald. Unlike the previous game, emeralds are not shared between characters.
Characters
- Sonic the Hedgehog is playable from the start.
- Cream the Rabbit and her Chao, Cheese are playable after Leaf Forest is completed. Vanilla the Rabbit, Cream the Rabbit's mother, is also introduced in Sonic Advance 2.
- Miles "Tails" Prower is playable after Music Plant is completed.
- Knuckles the Echidna is playable after Sky Canyon is completed.
- Amy Rose is playable after all of the other characters get all seven Chaos Emeralds and the game must be cleared on all four of those characters.

- Boss:Egg Saucer - Knuckles the Echidna pilots this during the 1st battle (due to being fooled by Eggman...again), subsequent battles have Eggman pilot this.

- Bosses:Weakened versions of all of the above, then the Egg Bot.

- Only playable as Sonic after he collects all 7 Chaos Emeralds, and after the game is cleared with Sonic, Cream, Tails, and Knuckles.
