Welcome to my page

I came to Wikipedia in mid 2004, with no idea that it was this wonderfully democratic, dynamic, living, constantly evolving organ of information exchange. Since then, I've substantially written, rewritten and/or corrected entries on:

and portions of:

among many others.

If it's got anything to do with black folks, my grubby, little thumbprint is probably there somewhere.

What can I say? I'm addicted.

Hey! Where all the black folks at?

As my name indicates, I live in Washington, D.C. -- the "belly of the beast," as the Panthers used to call it back in the day. I'm here to lend some, I think, much needed color to the place. The prism through which I view the world is unapologetically African-American. (After all, it is only through understanding and embracing our individuality that we begin truly to understand our universality. :-p) It's a mistake to gloss over the personal; those messy, bothersome details of the particular in a rush to what many imagine to be some ideal universal, kumbaya melting pot. It don't work like that.

My "thing" isn't black folks. It's not a preoccupation, a crusade or some embarrassingly regrettable character flaw; it's simply part of who and what I am. Take it or leave it. It's a come-with kinda thing.

As you may read my contributions, keep one thing in mind: bluntness/directness is not disrespect; I just don't believe in stroking egos. Straight-ahead comment is always the shortest distance between two points.

"Can I edit this page?"

The short answer is NO!"

If you've got something to say, well, FINE, then. But don't say it here. Tell it to my (Talk) page, dammit, 'cuz this page ain't lis'nin'. :-p

Reverting Vandalism

The long answer is "maybe."

If you notice that someone has altered or deleted my language, then I'd appreciate you restoring it. Thanks in advance. (And, yes, I know there are typos. I'll eventually get around to fixing them ... maybe.)

But if someone has contributed original comments on my user page I'd appreciate it if you'd just leave them be. Under no circumstances delete them -- not even the crap left by racist mental cretins. Let 'em have their say. (Besides, I can always use a little comic relief.) I'll move them to my talk pager later, as I would any other contribution by a Wiki user.

Wiki whites (and others) and articles about black folks

Yeah, there are some who mean well -- but, in my experience, relatively few who mean well and know what the hell they're writing about. Wikipedia needs more informed black contributors!

All too common on Wikipedia, I encounter a mind-set of arrogance and often ill-informed presumption when it comes to discussion of topics related to African-Americans/black folks -- the endless venting on extraneous subjects wholly unrelated to the subject at hand -- which evidence deep-seated, anti-black antipathy/animus. And then, of course, there's the blatant hostility/racism. If you're reading this page and are inclined to engage in such unseemly blatherings, get some self-respect, common sense and keep such sentiments to yourself. Wikipedia is not a venue for mindless rants. There are therapists for that purpose.

News flash: The world isn't yours anymore.

I've got three words fuyyah: Get over it.

One more thing. Don't mess wit' me, an' I won't mess wit' you ... maybe. Dealing with the crap I've dealt with makes me impatient. I don't suffer fools lightly. Yeah, I'm irascible at times. (Hell, who isn't in enemy territory?) I'm not here to make friends; I'm here to contribute what I can of interest and of value and, make no mistake about it, to set the record straight on the race. In that effort I make no claims of infallibility, only of honest and dedicated intent.
