Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (北京航空航天大学, BUAA, also referred to as Beihang University), was founded in 1952. Since 1950s, BUAA is one of the key universities of China and was one of the first 22 universities in China, which were established graduate schools. At present 26,000 students are enrolled in BUAA and among them 8,000 are graduates. There are 36 fields lead to doctoral degree, 65 fields lead to master degree and 39 specialties are open to the foreign students of undergraduate. There are 21 research institutes, 16 interdisciplinary research centers and 81 laboratories in BUAA. There is a collection of over 1 million volumes in BUAA’s library. The campus of BUAA is notable for its beautiful environment, convenient transportation and complete and high quality service in daily life and study of students.

BUAA is qualified to admit foreign students sponsored by Chinese Government Scholarship and accepts over 500 short and long-term foreign students from more than 20 countries annually, among them 160 are studying for master or doctoral degree. English is used as courses and instruction language for the master and doctoral candidates.

Now, BUAA has grown into an engineering and technology university with aerospace features, combining disciplines in science, engineering, liberal arts, law, economics, management and education, while maintaining the leading role in technology.
