Belvidere is a town located in Jackson County, South Dakota. As of the 2000 census, the town had a total population of 57.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 2.3 km² (0.9 mi²). 2.2 km² (0.9 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 5.56% water.

Belvidere has been assigned the ZIP code 57521, and the FIPS place code 04620.

Demographics

As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there are 57 people, 26 households, and 15 families residing in the town. The population density is 25.9/km² (67.4/mi²). There are 37 housing units at an average density of 16.8/km² (43.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the town is 82.46% White, and 17.54% Native American, and 0.00% of any other race.

There are 26 households out of which 26.9% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 42.3% are married couples living together, 15.4% have a female householder with no husband present, and 38.5% are non-families. 38.5% of all households are made up of individuals and 19.2% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.19 and the average family size is 2.94.

In the town the population is spread out with 28.1% under the age of 18, 5.3% from 18 to 24, 12.3% from 25 to 44, 33.3% from 45 to 64, and 21.1% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 47 years. For every 100 females there are 83.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 78.3 males.

The median income for a household in the town is $26,250, and the median income for a family is $39,375. Males have a median income of $28,750 versus $13,750 for females. The per capita income for the town is $14,575. 15.9% of the population and 15.8% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 28.6% are under the age of 18.
