Sully County is a county located in the state of South Dakota. As of 2000, the population is 1,556. Its county seat is Onida6.

Geography

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 2,772 km² (1,070 mi²). 2,608 km² (1,007 mi²) of it is land and 164 km² (63 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 5.93% water.

There are 630 households out of which 31.00% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 62.50% are married couples living together, 4.30% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.70% are non-families. 25.70% of all households are made up of individuals and 10.60% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.47 and the average family size is 2.99.

In the county, the population is spread out with 25.50% under the age of 18, 6.10% from 18 to 24, 26.50% from 25 to 44, 24.40% from 45 to 64, and 17.40% who are 65 years of age or older.
